Hi gang, i have a PSU issue and i want to make sure i have replace it with a quality, yet cost effective power supply that has the right connectors and stuff. Below is a list of the hardware ( i know... old ) , i would really appreciate any feedback at all. Thank you so much. :)

  • GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-Z97X-Gaming 3 LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
  • EVGA 04G-2975-KR GeForce GTX 970 SSC 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 ACX 2.0 PCI Express 3.0
  • ROSEWILL Gaming 80 Plus Bronze 650W Power Supply/PSU, HIVE Series 650 Watt 80 Plus Bronze Certified PSU with Silent 135mm Fan

550w is likely sufficient for a GTX970

I have no problem overprovisioning a PSU a bit. Say 20%.
It will allow for a stronger future graphics card upgrade.
It will run cooler, quieter, and more efficiently in the middle third of it's range.
A PSU will only use the wattage demanded of it, regardless of it's max capability.

Consider a quality psu as a long term investment. They do not change much over time.
I like the seasonic focus units with 7/10 year warranties. 650w, or perhaps even 750w.
