I am not new to pc gaming and know a general bit about the parts whats best and what works with what for the most part, however In the essence of being frugal and not spending where I dont need or underpaying where I should pay more I would like a second opinion of someone more experienced.

CPU: i7-7700k 4.2GHz
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14
Motherboard: msi Z270 TOMAHAWK ATX
Memory: Kingston - HyperX Fury Black 8GB
Storage : Samsung - 850 evo series 500GB 2.5 SSD
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 1070 8GB
Case: Fractual design - Define R4 w/ Window
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA G3 650 w 80+ Gold Certified

A few other questions that im curious to get an opinion on would be i5 vs i7 and the amount of RAM neccesary. This is for strictly gamin, no content creation, or photo/video rendering and editing. Thank you in advance

For new build, 16gb ram is essential. Coffee lake is probably the only Intel you should consider, I will cut the SSD into 250 gb SSD + 1 TB HDD. You can adjust if you want to.

You can add a 1080p 144Hz monitor to the build as well.
