So I am in the market for a new computer build. My previous build which I put together as well, has lasted over eight years. It is slowly dying and I figured it was past due to upgrade to some new technology.

I have put together what I think would work well for gaming, though I would appreciate some (helpful) feedback. I am somewhat flexible on price, though would prefer to stay around what i'm currently at. The build I have priced is right around 1300, and lets say I can spend up to 2000, though I'd prefer to stay lower.

For best future proofing Id also look into the X99 platform

X99 is aimed for those who need to work/productivity. They are generally used for major applications like AutoC4d and Video Editing.

However, X99 also brings more PCI Lanes, so you could do 3-4 way SLI.

Personally, the 4790k will last you a while before you need to upgrade. Maybe 4-5 years.

Yeah, I definitely do not plan to do any video editing or CAD. So I might just go with the build from up above.

Also, one thing I forgot to mention was the four cats living with us, and hardwood floors. So I would need a case that can resist cat hair as best as possible.

Not sure if that case will be able to do that, or if I should be looking at something like the CoolerMaster HAF.

Case is just personaly preference really, i enjoy sub 60$ cases that get the job done well. However Id suggest looking into Fractual Design's cases such as the r4/r5, and corsair's carbide 500r. There are many great cases out there, and also many poor cases. Just come up with a list of one's you like and toms will work the magic and help you find the best quality one's out of it.
