I'm considering upgrading to an HP ProLiant ML370 G5 Rack Server with dual 2.66 GHz Xeon processors and have some questions. Has anyone successfully run modern OSs like Windows Server 2016/2019 or a recent Linux distro on this model, and are there any compatibility issues? I'm also curious about its performance for virtualization, the maximum supported RAM, and whether upgrading it would significantly improve performance. Additionally, how does this older server fare in terms of power consumption and heat generation, and is it future-proof enough for modern workloads?

I asked this question on other forum as well. Need suggestion for experts.
Any insights would be appreciated!

What performance measurements are required?

Future-proofing is a requirement but what specific measurements will be used to determine if a system/server is deemed to be "future-proof"?
