I know this question likely speaks to those of you who, like me, are closer to being 30 years old than 20 😉 For several years, I used a DOS program (that is back when they were called programs and not apps) that was a pretty nifty "free form" database, that worked a little like OneNote, you could insert pictures, tables, and text. It came as a free version with limited features, or if you paid a whopping $10 or so you could get the full version. Unfortunately I don't remember the name of it 🙁 I am trying to collect a set of programs now that have very small footprints but do the tasks that I need, and ideally are either free or low cost. Does this ring a bell for anyone?

Are you sure about DOS? Can't really run that on anything without an emulator or installing DOS on bare metal.

There were quite a few file managers for DOS, but nothing that comes to mind that allowed insert pictures, tables or text. Some rudimentary tables from the likes of Lotus 123 and maybe Star Office.

I have to admit I was not a heavy user of office like apps in those days.

Unlikely that would run on current hardware and OS. Not easily, anyway.

Those are usually called PIMs, or personal information managers. I've been in software since the early 90's. I can't say that I've ever seen a DOS PIM, at least one that I can remember. But that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Maybe Lotus (already mentioned above)?

A list worth checking out: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_personal_information_managers

And if you can't get it to run on a current system you can try DOSBox, it may or may not help.
