I don't know about best I guess that comes down to personal preferences and user experiences ,but I like WD black drives they seen to be all around good and have a 5 year warrantee

just look for a listed drive from wd site for the latest part number and not ta older part drive

like I say just go with a current listed Model # WD drives warrantee start on date of manufacture not day you bought it

good luck

WD black is a very fast drive but can go loud
Hitachi/HGST drives last basically forever (got mine for 8 years now) but cause some vibrations
Seagate used to produce really good drives that are a good compromise between speed, temperature and noise but they lately shown some issues concerning reliability after 2 years
It's similar with Toshiba, you can get a very good Toshiba drive or it can break within a year. Most don't but significantly more do than HGST or WD Blacks do.
Consider: the higher the RPM, the faster the drive
But also the louder, the hotter and the less durable

Depending on what you plan on doing with it, the WD Black, an HGST drive or a WD green (if it's only backup storage) would be great choices

'' WD black is a very fast drive but can go loud ;;

I all ways use blacks and never see this at all ?? they run so quite its like there not even in there running at all I got them from old 80 ,160 up to 500 gb . cant hear then even when they spin up - you must of got a bad drive ? these things happen with all brands

''Hitachi/HGST drives last basically forever '' there owned by WD same tech in the drives

Hitachi/HGST support 24/7 duty
WD black/blue/green don't.
It's not the same tech.

And yes a WD black is louder than most other HDDs. But it depends on the set upif you'll be able to hear it out of your case. If you use a cheap case and force some load only on the HDD while CPU/GPU are idling, you might hear it.
But as said it depends on your setup and your room.

and no there no louder then any drive ?? as I said you must of got a lemon / bad drive or something . then don't forget Toshiba got some of Hitachi during the buy out so.. 'It's not the same tech'' ' I don't guess Toshiba or WD when they got there parts of Hitachi they did not use any thing good they got from them in there own branded drives now did they ?? I guess just bought them just to spend money and get nothing in return .. lol ....

lie I said above it all personal preferences and user experiences. on what you feel is best for ''YOU''

Dude you're getting a bit emotional over this.

A WD Black, an HGST Deskstar and a Toshiba Satellite aren't identical drives with different labels.
They share some parts and features but they are not "the same". Lamborghini was bought by VW, doesn't mean they use the same engine.

Also noise is a fact with the WD Black - it's a matter if it's audible in your system and if it's bothering you or not - but you can Google it, look it up here on TH, the WD blacks are a bit louder.
Maybe they changed something in the past year, but if you look at benchs the 1TB black is around 41/42 DBA while a 1TB Deskstar is around 36-37, 1TB Satellite & Barracudas are ~33dba under full load.
But that's alright. The Black is the best performing drive and performance causes some noise.
If you're dampening the noise (as good cases normally do) it can be virtually impossible to recognise and I highly recommend WD blacks if you need a strong, fast HDD
