The Nighthawk is $184 and less if you shop around:
http://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Nighthawk-AC1900-Gigabit-Router/dp/B00F0DD0I6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449324221&sr=8-1&keywords=netgear+nighthawk+router

I'm extremely happy with my Netgear Nighthawk router with:
4 cell phones
2 Wii's
3 Laptops
5 Tablets
6 Gaming PC's
1 Server

I don't notice any delay even when the kids are watching Netflix/Youtube and I'm in a game or running a webinar with shared screen. Very impressed. You're looking for how many devices that router can simultaneously support - so look for that in the description.

If you look for a router that supports DD-wrt or has it built in you may be able to limit bandwidth based on IP address. You may have to upgrade to the a paid version of the router firmware to do so.

The only router i've seen advertise per IP based bandwidth control is the TP-Link routers. While I would think that their higher performance routers have the feature the only router on their web page is this one.

i was looking at the asus rtac 68r because i can get it 50$ off from my walmart discount code but am confused why this same router has different names on amazon its called rtac 68u so what dose the r and u stand for are they the same router?

They usually are the same but not always, a lot of companys like walmart, best buy others have a unique product codes that way if they get pissy and your trying to do price matching or other things they can say no its not the exact model.

nighthawk is a bit extreme ( 200+ bucks). I got a d-link DIR-810L for 20 bucks at walmart (special price). And it out performs my former gaming d-link dir-655 router.
So the only trick is going to be range. Larger the house, the better router you need. The nighthawk, for example has a pretty good range.

Every company has a page like this. D-lnk, linksys, netgear and belkin are usually the biggest sellers.
