Here is my alternative version that reduces the size of the SSD to only what's needed for OS and gives a 1TB drive for games and files.
Also doesn't have a dedicated GPU but has you using an APU instead.

This system will play those games well enough at stock, but I would highly recommend you overclock the CPU/APU to get some better frame rates.

And expect to obviously tack on whatever extra amount in price for a GPU of your choosing that fits within your budget if you wanted to get a dedicated GPU.

I3 8100
Asrock h310 hds
8gb ram ddr4
1tb hdd
120gb ssd
Gtx 1060 3gb gddr5
500w psu
Tecware nexus m with TG
Windows 10

This is the best build I can get for $1000
Is it worth it?

Pretty solid build for the budget. Just 2 things...
Make sure that memory is in dual channel instead of a single stick.
And that PSU is a quality one... https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/631048-psu-tier-li...

Sorry i know nothing of pc, but what do you mean by memory is in dual channel?
And what do you recommend for a good budget PSU?

2x4gb sticks instead of one 8gb stick. It is faster and you can still boot the pc if one stick fails.
The PSU Tier list in my above post should give you an idea what to look out for. Try to stay above Tier 3.
