I'm not looking to go super heavy on case cost, that being said mid or full is my preference for airflow and room to move around in (specially having a big video card with the SLI possibility in the future). I bought a used Rosewill Thor V2, and the case layout is great, most of it is awesome. The top? Crap. Plastic held the top to the case, the top that contained all the electrical plugins for the USB, fans, audio, etc. Granted it is probably not easy to break, but the person before me either didn't know what they were doing and destroyed it or it broke in shipping, anyways I'm sending it back so on topic....
I don't want to spend hundreds on a case, but I don't want something cheap either. I'm not really happy with the Rosewill full layout if they're using plastic connectors on the major components, so probably anything by them is going to be bypassed.
Other than video card size, the only other thing is being capable of having a radiator and double fan somewhere. Unfortunately searches don't let you be that specific as to fan amounts and locations... so I'm open to suggestions. Double radiator, such as the Thermaltake 3.0 extreme or Corsair H100, big enough for the larger video cards, and nice air flow without costing a lot. Preferably in the low $100s.
