Hello,
i'm in need of a cheap pc soundcard (usb/pcie doesn't matter) that is able to play/export rapid sequences of low latency tones.
I tried it with my mainboard audio and the sounds have huge delay. I need something that can play 1 ms sounds rapidly without hude delays.

I've heard that old soundcards have much lower latency than newer ones, but since i have never used one im looking for some recommendations

Solution
The sellers never list the actual latency of the cards. How do i find that out when i look at a soundcard on amazon etc?

Here is an example: https://www.amazon.com/-/de/Creative-tarjeta-sonido-Audigy-FX/dp/B00EO6X7PG/ref=sr_1_2?__mk_de_DE=ÅMÅŽÕÑ&dchild=1&keywords=audigy+rx&qid=1599500713&sr=8-2
Here is a hardware review for it, now find the chip specifications if you can... In addition to chip and interface latency, you have whole a lot of software between you and the soundcard in a PC. Low latency systems run on dedicated hardware and real-time operating system, such as VxWorks for example. What are you trying to build anyway?
If you are looking to get a signal generator, those are expensive for a reason. I would be better off finding a used signal generator (interface card or a whole separate unit)
If it is indeed for sound, look for Thunderbolt or PCIe (low latency interfaces) and read the card specs carefully, find out how the card is built (DAC type, frequency range, and rate, filters etc), and there you would find the specs of your choice.

Let's just say that i have a programm that lets me view rapidly incomming information visually or send it as an audio signal - problem is that there is huge delay between each signal and i think that the reason is because i don't have a dedicated soundcard.

https://www.asus.com/Sound-Cards/Xonar-SE/specifications/

How do i calculate the latency with this information?

Well, how exactly do you measure latency? What equipment do you use?

This won't give you much info about the latency of the hardware. You need to find out which chip is used in the card and then find its' datasheet with exact specifications. Example (page 9 is latency characteristics).
