Looking for compatible RAM in addition to Samsung 16GB 2133MHz DDR4 RAM

Hey everyone, I currently have Samsung 16GB (2x8GB) 2133MHz DDR4 RAM installed in my Gigabyte GA-H270-Gaming 3 Motherboard and want to add another one or two sticks of Kingston HyperX 8GB DDR4 2666MHz Memory (HX426C16FR2/8). I am looking at red RAM sticks as my motherboard's RAM slots have red LED.

I have the following questions:

1. Given the difference in frequency, will the Samsung and new Kingston (if purchased) work well alongside each other?
2. How do I find out what is the maximum amount of memory my motherboard can handle? 32GB, 64GB or higher (in total)?
3. A friend said that purchasing anything over 2400MHz is a waste as the motherboard settings have to be altered so that it's used properly by the system and it only gives about 4% performance boost? Is that correct? (I kinda want the 2666MHz ones.)
4. Other than ratings, what are some features about RAM should I look into before I decide to purchase them?

Your friend isn't wrong, but it doesn't take much to change the settings, especially seeing as most of the overclocked memory has XMP.

Buy the one that makes you happy. Most applications don't benefit from having more than 16GB for themselves, so 32GB for you will be fine. Now this advice comes from a guy who has 512GB in his workstation and 32GB in his main laptop.

Well I already have the Samsung 16GB (2x8GB) 2133MHz DDR4, so I am thinking of getting 2 more Kingston Technology HyperX FURY Red 8GB 2666MHz DDR4 and plug it into the 2 remaining slots, that way I will have 32GB for now. So the frequency difference between the 2 sets is nothing to worry about?

There can be compatibility issues with mixing frequencies, there isnt supposed to be though. The main thing about mixing frequencies is that the new set/stick will run at the lowest common speed, in your case 2133. That means you would have wasted your money on the extra speed. Price a kit of 4x8GB sticks and see what you find. The reason for the smaller sticks is for the potential of getting better timings.

Yeah I will just go for the Kingston Technology HyperX FURY Red 8GB 2400MHz DDR4 x2 and replace the Samsung ones.

Sounds like a plan.

The brands of RAM I buy are Crucial, Corsair & Kingston, in that order. I just have had better luck with the first 2 than the last one. Could just be luck of the draw though, all have lifetime warranties.
