I’m preparing another PC build for future flight simulator platform(s) and games (XP, MSFS, P3D and anything else that might come along). Some of the components are already shipped but I have not decided on a good dual loop case. Primarily a test bed to see what the claimed top tier components can achieve and how GPU and/or RAM configurations may or may not help. This is not my Vapor chiller setup so ambient is the best this setup can do.

Case requirements:

E-ATX motherboard support (not hanging over but full mount support)

Horizontal mount motherboard (preferred but can live with vertical if that is the only option)

Height needs to be less than 28” (prefer 27”)

Mounts for two pumps

Support for two 420 radiators (one for each water loop)

Support for one 140 intake fan (front) and 140 fan outtake (rear)

In the past I’ve used this ThermaleTake Tower 900 case here. It’s a good case and has built in support for dual loop, but I don’t like the top mount for all my USB-A/C, video, etc. and it exceeds 28” and the PSU slot does not fit my 1600 Watt SeaSonic.

Component List:

Motherboard: MSI Godlike X870E (shipped)

CPUs: AMD 9800X3D (shipped) and AMD 9950X3D (pending release) and AMD 9950X (arrived)

GPUs: nVidia 5090 based (pending release), AMD 9070XT (pending release)

RAM1: Corsair Dominator Titanium 4X32GB DDR5 EXPO 6000 CL30 both 64GB and 128GB config (shipped)

RAM2: Corsair Dominator Titanium 2X48GB DDR5 Intel XMP CL32 (shipped)

Storage: M.2 WD X850 8TB (7200MB/s read 6600MB/s write)

PSU: SeaSonic Platinum 1600 Watt

Water blocks for above CPUs, GPUs (several options pending release)

Radiators: 2 x 420

Pumps: Anything based on Gould D5

Fittings: Koolance compression

Tube size: 1/2” soft

I’m not looking to perform any significant overclocking as ambient based water cooling system are limited it what they can achieve. With that said, adjustments will be made to try to extract the most stable performance.

I’ll be reporting all my testing results in detail, lots of numbers and logs and video overlays that anyone can review if interested. I know this type of system isn’t going to be typical end user buy and that’s not my intent. If one is looking for best buy’s/values there are plenty of YouTube channels like (Gamer Nexus, JayZ2Cents, etc.) that can help with those decisions. My goals are to see what higher end components can or can not do, value is not the point of my testing, definitely NOT doing “best bang for buck” as just about none of the above components could be considered a “good value”.

The GPUs are most likely going to be the hold-up on testing, but with any luck (I’ll need it) obtaining 5090 and/or 9070 in February.

So with all that out of the way, would love to get case recommendations that meet above requirements.

Rob.
