1. What is your budget? Min $1500, max $2200

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering? Must be 16"

3. What screen resolution do you want? 2K 165Hz preferable but can be flexible

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop? Portable is better.

5. How much battery life do you need? Doesn't matter, but more is better

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)? Some gaming, but I do use other programs that require a GPU

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.) Some Photoshop and 3-D desktop apps

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need? 1TB minimum, 2 or more TB preferable, 2nd M2 storage slot required, RAM must be upgradeable

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links. Anything as long as there's no third party minion sellers involved

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop? 3 - 4 years minimum

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ? None, have external

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons. I'll use just about any brand as long as it's a quality product. I am currently looking at the Asus ROG Zephyrus and TUF A16. Alternately, I would consider an ultra book like the Samsung Galaxy Book 5 or the LG Gram Pro. If there are any similar laptops, I will take a look at them.

13. What country do you live in? USA, California (have access to Orange County Micro Center)

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.

USB-C power delivery and charging capability is an absolute must. I am sick of carrying around heavy A/C adapters like my current HP has. Would like to buy sooner than later as I have a lot of traveling coming up. I would also specify that I do not want a touchscreen.

They don't come with 2K displays though.

You might want to state the app's you'll be using. As of this moment, these are the two I've been able to narrow down on Microcenter;

Yeah I don't want a touch screen though. I'm not sure what apps I'll be using. I would prefer something with a bit more powerful GPU.

The 2024 / 2025 TUF and Zephyrus models do come with a 2K screen.

Found an A16 with a 2K screen:

A little low on memory/storage though, but well below budget, so not a bad deal if you want to swap in your own memory and drives.

Only the one M.2 slot? Or one empty one, not sure.

I do like that one, but I will not buy from an Amazon 3rd party seller.

I also found this one and I really like all the specs on it:

Give a call to Lenovo.
I have, in the past had good help from them.
They know their products and can often tell you about discounts that you might not otherwise find.

You are probably looking at one of the thinkpad units.
Specs on man models can be customized.

I've looked at several Lenovo units, the ones that would meet my specs are way out of my price range, and the ones that do have their M2 slots and RAM bricked.

Did you talk to a lenovo rep?
There may be options you did not see, and Lenovo has good sales all the time.

The very portable units will have fixed parts.
But, the work station types will have upgradeable parts and can be configured as you wish.
