First of all I'm not the the usa so don't use amazon/newegg prices to help me. I'm looking for a motherboard to upgrade to coffe lake with an 8400.
I can get the the Gigabyte B360 Aorus Gaming 3 for $145
the ROG STRIX B360-G GAMING for $148
the Gigabyte Z370 HD3 for $161
the ROG STRIX B360-H GAMING for $165
the Gigabyte B360 Aorus Gaming 3 Wifi for $167
the Gigabyte H370 Aorus Gaming 3 Wifi for $177
I'm mainly into music production and need a decent on board audio until I can afford a great dac.
I would also need to get a new wifi solution, that's why added the wifi editions.
Which one should I buy? The h370 cost a little more than the b360 (both aorus gaming 3 wifi) and it has a better realtek solution. Would the $10 be worth?
I could get a z370 but it wouldn't have wifi and the realtek would be the same as the b360 aorus. Also I won't be upgrading from an 8400 in the near future since i don't have big multi core works to do. Only gaming, music production and some photo editing. ■
Just in case anyone asks the i5 8400 would cost me $240
I only want to use asus or gigabyte motherboards since asrock and msi have both failed me and some other friends in the past.
Thanks in advance for anyone replying.

First, just about all motherboards use the same on-board codec chipset or at least perform the same, so you don't have to worry about that. Second I would go with ASUS over Gigabyte any day. And I'm not sure why you are concerned about on-board WiFi when you can buy a USB thumb wireless adapter for cheap.

The only difference I can tell between the H and G series Gaming ROG STRIX motherboards is that the H-series has 4 PCI slots vs. the G-series having 2. This may come in handy if you want to later add a professional level sound card on top of other PCI devices like SSDs for example.

Why would you only recommend asus?

Because in 20 years of PC building and dozens of PC builds using ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, and ASRock motherboards, I've only had one ASUS board go bad on me vs. three Gigabytes, one MSI, and two ASRocks. It's anecdotal of course, but of all the old PCs I still have working dating from 2001 or so, they are all ASUS board based.

Just the opposite here I would never recommend or buy another Asus product. Terrible customer service and overpriced for what you get you can about always get a board that uses higher quality parts by not paying for the AT ONE TIME GOOD Asus name.

20 Years build, repairing, upgrading. MSI, Asus, EVGA, EEC is a no Asrock is usually the best board for the money the Gigabyte I would buy next.

5 Years ago I would of bought a Asus board but not anymore .

A USB dongle is about the worst WIFI connection you can get.
The G is a mATX the H is a standard ATX board.

To the OP.
If your using a case that can fit a standard ATX motherboard and has a side window then get one a mATX board will look dinky in their.

I'm having wifi issues with those little wifi dongles, that's why I'm looking for onboard wifi. I have an full atx case. I'll go with the h370 g3 wifi

I'm avoiding asrock because i had many issues, friends had issues with msi, but i've heard none from gigabyte or asus. I'll stick to the gigabyte h370. thanks for the advice
