Hey Guys,

I'm new at overclocking so I decided to ask your opinion. I have the following CPU:

AMD FX6300 + Cooler Master HyperEvo 212 Cooler
GIGABYTE GA-970A-UD3P mobo
MSI R9 380 4G
Corsair V. 16 GB DDR3 1866Mhz (2x8 GB)
Chieftec GPS-500A8 500W PSU

I'm looking forward to OC my CPU at least up to 3,9 Ghz, but I don't know the exactly method and my concern is about my PSU. Can it handle if I'm OC the FX6300 and what BIOS settings should I set if I want to reach 3,9 Ghz (or maybe more) if it is possible with that mid tier PSU? Thanks for your help guys! Have a nice day!

Read and study it before overclocking your FX processor.

Then use AMD Overdrive to do your overclock testing, start off with the base settings, and run the test from within overdrive to see if its stable. Keep going until its not and then back off. THEN run Prime95 to ensure that it can hold up to a real beating. Throw a couple runs of 3D Mark in there just to be sure. Then you're good

This is good as well, after you read the official AMD guide I posted.

Yeah I was thinking about that replacing PSU but first I changed GPU from Sapphire HD6950 2GB OC to my actual one. All in all, I won't OC before replacing PSU, but Can you write me the method step by step for me to save it for later? I would really appreciate that. Thanks for your fast asnwering!

Can you guys write me step by step what should I do in BIOS settings for me to save it for future? After that I gonna order a better PSU 😀D Thanks for your help! :)

Download AMD overdrive as a baseline. It'll let you tweak stuff from Windows to find what's stable and what isn't without rebooting every time.

Quick guide using that:

Go to clocks/voltages tab.
Disable turbo core.
Set multiplier to 20x (4 GHz). Leave voltages @ stock for now.
Run a stress test.
Bump up .1 GHZ at a time and re-test. If it crashes, you'll need to start increasing Vcore and NB voltage by small increments (don't go over 1.45).

Once you find some settings that seem to work well, write them down, then go into the BIOS and set them there.

Hey guys, me again 😀

My friend gave me a brand new Chieftec CPS-650s 650W 85+ Bronze PSU, so I'm wondering is it fair enough to overclock my CPU or leave it on stock?

That is another do not overclock PSU. its just as bad if not worse than your prior PSU
