[SOLVED] Looking for upgrade build recommendations (CPU/Cooling/Motherboard)

Good Afternoon All!

Looking at potentially upgrading CPU and Motherboard, or possibly just the CPU in order to keep it well future proofed.

I use the rig purely for gaming and the last upgrade was I recently changed out case to a lovely Fractal S2. Prior to that I upgraded to the GTX 1080. CPU has currently got a corsair H80i sat on it and i'd also like to upgrade that to something a little better and also quieter (i've stripped out the threads inside the radiator on one side so changing the fans out for mag's is pointless, I may as well go for an upgrade)

Well you're gonna have to get a new motherboard and ram cos the only upgrade on that platform s a 4790K which really isn't worth it. What is your budget?

No budget. I mean, I don't want to spend silly money because i'm a tight Yorkie but looking at all options really . I usually aim between mid and top tier.

Fairs. So like a r5 3600, decent X570 board, 16GB RAM and a silent air cooler? Be about £550

Pretty much spot on other than the CPU cooler. I'm tempted to go for another closed loop. Likely double fan. Which one is hitting the 9s and 10s in reviews at the moment?

If you wanna but Ryzen chips aren't exactly hot and you're better off not overclocking the 3000 series for gaming just putting on the boost feature and letting that take care of it for you. Less heat, quieter system and better performance than a manual overclock in some cases.

As current games, like Shadow of the Tomb raider, are already nearly maxing out the cores/threads, of a Ryzen 5 3600, it might be worth stepping up to the 3700x. While you don't need an AIO, better boost clocks, and quieter performance, are a good thing.
