Hi All -

I am on the verge of purchasing my first Nvidia GPU, GTX 970. I had originally planned to purchase an EVGA model due to their reputation. I have seen many concerns from buyers about the quality of the EVGA GTX 970 board components as well as noise associated with the ACX 1.0 and 2.0 coolers. Needless to say, I have become very apprehensive.

So, with that being said, does anyone have any feedback on the Zotac GTX 970 (non-OC version)? I really like the look of the card and have read good things about Zotac customer service, despite their being a smaller company. Hoping to get input on overclockability, temps and noise.

Thanks!

Solution
I just gave it a quick try. I could up the base clock (1076MHz) with afterburner by 200MHz and memory clock by 100MHz without issues. Seems afterburner ups the boostfrequency coupled with the base clock as there's no separate setting for it.

The unigine valley result was 2400 in extreme HD:

CPU clock was stock i7-2600k, no overclocking save the card.

Clock speed hovered mostly at around 1380MHz, temperature with automatic fan control never exceeded 84 degrees celsius.

I tried to go a bit further, but the card didn't like it. Whenever core clock spiked past "1400 and something"MHz the card locked up and the drivers reset.

It seems their bundled firestorm program...

I'm aware that this was posted some time ago but I would be grateful if you could perhaps give me some info

I recently overclocked my zotac 970 following your results (i got a core clock of 204mhz and a memory clock of 99mhz, and it's stable, i dont dare go any higher as this is my first ever overclock) and I received these results http://i.gyazo.com/7c17b781fe44c9652f5e9cac5bcfc060.png

are they good results? (sorry i'm just a complete noob when it comes down to this)

thanks in advance

Thanks for the tip, but what I mean is that with this OC I get 91C while playing demanding games like Battlefield and so on. I think that is beyond ridiculous and I really don't know what's causing it. Perhaps buying extra 2 top 140mm fans and one bottom 140mm fan will help? I don't know. Do you think the PSU could affect the GPU's temps when overclocking?

I'v got myself the zotac gtx 970 and been using it for little over 2 weeks. The card's great..i dont mind the little coil whine..but the card gets heated up fast and will reach 80C easily if the fan is mot tweaked manually. I use evga precision x for that and have set it at 1% rise in speed per degree of temperature increase. The card stays mostly below 73C for the major part..In games like gta v or watchdogs where I've stressed the card to its limits the temperature goes upto 75-76C. But anything below 80 is acceptable. Needless to say it is the most underrated brand. I'd say just go for it and you wont be disappointed.
