So i originally wanted a to build a PC last year but now i have a little bit more money saved up. So i am looking for a high end pc that is under 2000$ Canadian that includes a monitor too as i am coming from a gaming laptop.

I am looking to play the latest games on max settings on 1080p. I could care less about 4K at the moment.
I want something a bit more future proof too. So let say in 3-5 years i can easily upgrade some parts to play the latest games at that time for another few years on high settings.

Solution
Add a second GTX 970 in SLI if you need more graphics muscle down the road. Two open memory slots. Dual 23" IPS monitors. Overclock as you please...

Current Haswell systems will give you a lot of bang for the buck, but in 3-5 years, your upgrade options will be very limited. You wont be able to upgrade the CPU as the current Haswell CPU's are as good at it gets on the socket 1150 platform. Yes some Broadwell CPU's are coming out, but those are lower clocked and only add a better onboard iGPU, which isn't needed if you have a dedicated GPU. In 3-5 years, I see DDR4 being the mainstream memory standard and DDR3 the older solution, but all 1150 motherboards are limited to DDR3. That doesn't mean you couldn't upgrade to 32GB of higher speed DDR3, but would that be good enough in 3-5 years? If you did go the socket 1150 route, you still could upgrade your GPU, which is the biggest factor in games, so going the socket 1150 route isn't all bad.

If you didn't go the socket 1150 route, you have 2 options...
1. Wait for the Skylake platform to come out later in 2015 and build something then. The newer platform that will likely support only DDR4 would make your system much more future proof as your upgrade options will be a lot more.
2. Go the socket 2011-3 route now. This option supports DDR4 and would be more future proof, but you are paying a premium for these parts now and it will cost you.
