What brands are good for a mouse?
Should I get a keyboard-mouse combo?
Keyboard is 5 years old(bundled with pc) but is still good and my favourite albeit tappity tap)
Wireless or wired? (Wireless preferable)

sub-1000 if possible.

I recommend actually going to a tech store and try out the mice/keyboards there, feel them up, make sure you like what you feel. There are so many different kinds, and styles.

I currently use a razer naga epic - it's the best mouse I've used so far. Although probably on the pricey side.

I find Microsoft keyboards pretty decent - they last a while, have good feedback, and just "work". Logitech makes some nice keyboards as well.

One more thing - I usually hate wireless keyboards, they tend to be finicky. I've used 2-3 previously and all were...just not that great. I recommend a wired keyboard/mouse.

Plus wired should be more secure - I've seen wireless keyboards and mice interacting with each other (people in cubicles 10 feet apart, to 50 feet apart) - basically a person would type and someone else would get their typing.
