Looking to overclock an Asus R9 280 3gb 384-bit

Hi ya'll. I was just wondering what a safe overclock would be for a r9 280 with a fx 6300 and a Evga 500w psu 80 plus. I also have a 4 case fans, a hdd and a cd drive. Any help would be nice, looking to get the best performance I can safely get. I've also heard that a r9 280 with any cpu is pushing it, even without overclock. What should I do? Help is much appreciated.

Overclocking is never an exact science, so finding a safe limit is always done through trial and error. Chances are, games will start to crash or show artefacts before overheating happens.

As a general rule of thumb, you shouldn't exceed 20% of the current clock speeds, but like I said, you'll have to try it for yourself.
