Hi Guys,

I have been really interested in AMD products lately, since they are so much cheaper than Nvidia / Intel, and offer quite similar performances. Just a few questions before I go forward with this, I understand fully that although high-end from an AMD perspective, I know I will get worse game performance than my current PC spec, do you think the FPS drops for gaming will be significant? I game at 144hz at 1080p. Additionally, do you think the cooler is good enough for the AMD rig I want to buy (Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition)? See below for my current specs / the AMD rig im looking to buy! Thanks so much!

My Current PC Specs are:

CPU: Intel® Core™i7 Six Core Processor i7-8700k (3.7GHz) 12MB Cache
Motherboard: ASUS® ROG STRIX Z370-H GAMING: ATX, LGA1151, USB 3.0, SATA 6GBs
Ram: 16GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 3200MHz (2 x 8GB)
GPU: 11GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1080 Ti
PSU: CORSAIR 650W TXm SERIES™ SEMI-MODULAR 80 PLUS® GOLD, ULTRA QUIET
Cooler: Corsair H100i V2 Hydro Series High Performance CPU Cooler
Case: FRACTAL DEFINE S BLACK GAMING CASE (Window)

The AMD PC I want to buy have the following Specs:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700x 8 Core Processor
Motherboard: ASUS B450-F-STRIX GAMING
Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) 3200 MHZ
GPU: ASUS RX Vega 64 Strix OC 8GB
PSU: CoolerMaster 700W PSU
Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition
Case: Cooler Master MB520 Red LED

Couldn't agree more. Why would you even consider that switch? Being you would take a loss selling the current rig to build the new one. You'd more than likely being spending a good amount of cash to lose performance.

I have a buyer for £1600. And the rig I mentioned for AMD is £1167 in total. Id be saving money and its not really a huge performance difference?

I own and love AMD products and I wouldn't do that.

I mean yeah you will save some money, but the RX Vega 64 is a good bit slower than the 1080ti (its about equivalent to the 1080), you'll be getting a junk quality PSU which is not good for the RX Vega 64 as it is very power hungry. You're also getting a lower end motherboard compared to what you have.

If you're desperate for money, sure (as long as you swap that PSU), but long term you'll lose noticeable gaming performance.

doesn't make sense to me. no profit off the sale and you still have to put extra money towards it going by those iffy numbers. add to the fact you would still lose a small bit of performance switching to AMD.

the funny thing is getting rid of a good gaming PC and yet not waiting for ryzen 3 to come out which may give you a noticeable performance improvement over the that AMD system you want to waste money on
