looking to update my system

I looking to upgrade my alienware auroa r2 so i can run higher frame rates and on higher quality settings.
here is what i have
intel i3cpu 540@3.07 ghz
8 g ddr
ati radeon hd 5670

I did try to upgrade my video card, I got a
ZOTAC
ZOTAC NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti 2GB GDDR5 2DVI/2HDMI PCI-Express Video Card ZT-61102-10M

the problem is that this doesn't seem compatible with my mother board.

1)should I upgrade my mother board to be compatible to the video card?
2)should I return the card and try to build a whole new system? (like to keep the spending $500-700 max)
if I do either of the above can I use my existing case and hard drive with windows 7 on it?

3) should I replace with a prebuilt unit?

I'm not sure, what ever came stock. is there a way I can get this info

yeah. Hit start, type 'dxdiag', if a popup comes up, hit yes or no it doesnt matter, then type what it says under 'system model'

I wish I could, my old video card failed so I'm kinda stuck

Oh, hmm. Well according to what the processor says about your system, you can have one graphics card on 16x PCIe. What that means is a 650ti should work on that
