I currently have a computer that I'd like to upgrade and use as sort of a steam box. It's sole purpose would be to run games and movies on a 1080p hd tv. The APU is an AMD A4 5300, running on a MSI FM2-A55M-E33 FM2, 4gb Corsair 1333mhz RAM and a👎 XFX HD 7770 core edition gpu. I'd like to know what would more sensible solution. I'd like to get a bit of a performance boost but it seems that the processor and/or the ram may be the bottleneck. I've been considering going with the A10-6800k with the HD7770 or re-purposing the 7770 and going dual graphics with the HD7750 but this would require faster/more ram and I'm not sure I'd even see a performance boost. What would you guys do, just understand that I got that machine because I needed something quick and in a pinch. Working on a high end build for work (Photoshop/Video Editing/3d Content creation, as well as gaming so I had a limited budget for the machine in question.

Thanks in advance.

Solution
Upgrade the APU/CPU. If you intend of photoshop and things like that, you may want to go with the FX-8350 or better, as it has 8 cores for quicker editing. Also, you may want to switch out all your ram for 8-16 GB of 1600 MHz or more. If you still want to go with the quad core APU, The A10 6800k is pretty good, and the 7770 will be better than the 8670d in the 6800k. Do NOT crossfire the 7770 and 7750, it will not work with 2 different graphics card, only 2 of the same (E.g 7770 and 7770, not 7770, and 7750)

Solution
The Photoshop machine is a completely different one, it's the reason for the budget constraints on this one, the computer in question is only for games at 1080p and movies. The 7770 would be a stand alone card, and the 7750 would be a different option running in dual graphic mode with the APU.

Thanks, appreciate it.
