I've been meaning to upgrade my CPU and GPU for a while now because I get bad frames when I play Arma 3. I don't know if I should stick with AMD and upgrade of buy a new Intel CPU and motherboard. Someone told me to upgrade to this:
CPU-Intel Core i5-4460 LGA 1150 CPU
Motherboard-Asus H97M-E Micro ATX LGA1150

I don't have a clue on what to upgrade my GPU to, so any help would be appreciated. My current build:
CPU: AMD Athlon X4 760K 3.8GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard: MSI A78M-E35 Micro ATX FM2+
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM
Video Card: MSI Radeon R7 260X 2GB Video Card
Case: Rosewill Line-M MicroATX Mini Tower Case
Power Supply: Corsair Builder 430W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX
Optical Drive: Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer

To a large extent this all depends on what your budget is going to be. Both the Processor and Motherboard that you have been recommended are good ones. I would recommend you get a 120GB Samsung Evo SSD as your boot drive and then use a secondary 1TB HDD for storage. Graphics card wise i will simply say if you want a good quality medium end card then you want to be looking at the gtx960 or the R9 280x. If you want to run most games on ultra settings then you need to be spending more money and look at the gtx970 or the R9 290. Whatevery you choose ensure you have a power supply capable of handling the system. If you pick an Nvidia based card then a good quality 600W PSU from Xfx would be more than sufficient. If you choose an R9 290...

Best of luck and hope this helps

The budget I will go for is anything from $300-$500 maybe, I'm looking to buy each part separately as I get more money, so the CPU and Motherboard I'll but, then a bit later I'll but a new GPU.

In real world conditions probably around 5-10 frames per second in favour of the R9 280x. While the GTX960 produces less heat and is more efficient.

In terms of raw gaming performance the 280x wins each and every time!

Alright, I think I'll go for the GTX960 just because it cost less and it is more efficient. Thanks for your help!
