Question Looking to upgrade my cpu, stuck between 14th gen i5 and i7

Currently sporting an i5 9600k and Radeon 6700xt and my cpu is bottlenecking massively. Maxing out at 100% in nearly every game while the cpu is at like 30 maximum 40.

I already have a motherboard with lga1700 and 32gb of ram. I’m just unsure if the i7 would be worth. Both in terms of future proofing but also in more performance? Or would it simply reverse the bottleneck. I use my system mainly for gaming and occasional music production and 3d work. I haven’t completely closed the door for either 12th or 13th gen as well.

Thanks

What board (make/model) and RAM do you have?

My current board is msi z390 a pro with the i5 9600k and 2x8 corsair veangence. The board I own which will be used in the pc but that I currently don’t have a cpu for is the asus prime z790-A WiFi. Since it is ddr5 I also have 2x16 corsair veangence rgb

The problem is where I live in Sweden, the price difference between the i7 13th gen and 14th is aprox 5 dollars as the 13th gen is barely sold here

Any option to return the motherboard. Generally when gaming is your primary use various forms of AMD chips with x3d option tend to be the best cost/performance option.
yes I do have the option, however I tend to do some music compositions on there as well. Usually composing or mixing orchestral compositions which can require some multi core performance as well

Which is why I’m even considering the i7 over the i5 which would be the clear for me if I was only gaming

So would you recommend then getting the i7 14th? And if so im guessing that minimizing bottlenecking would come down to in game settings
