As the title says, I am looking to upgrade my computer. I am currently a college student away from home, so I don't have my current PC with me, but I remember most of the specs.
I am willing to spend around 700-800$ for upgrades, but I want to make sure I upgrade the parts that would optimize performance, or perhaps add on to what I already have.
I'm currently a Computer Science Major at my college, and I'm heavily into coding and have recently got into unreal engine 4. Unfortunately, my laptop is nowhere near capable of using UE4 smoothly, which is why I am looking to upgrade my PC at home when I return in the summer.
I don't remember what my processor was, but I am also willing spend 200-400$ on a processor if it helps with UE4 or programming (optimization with Visual Studio 2015 maybe?). Maybe a general guideline of what I should get (i7? cores?).
For playing games, I'm not concerned about 4k or anything above 1920x1080 display. I use a BenQ RL2460HT gaming monitor to play and I just want to be able to play Ultra settings 60fps if possible. The only two games I can think of playing over the summer are Heroes of the Storm and Fallout 4.
My current Hard drive is some 250gb HDD old piece of crap, definitely looking to upgrade this. Should I buy a small storage SSD for my OS?
All recommendations and help is appreciated. I'm not exactly informed when it comes to PC hardware, but the community here is always super helpful.
Specs:
Motherboard - Gigabyte GAE97x gaming 5
GPU - EVGA GEforce GTX 750 ti
RAM - G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
PSU - Don't know (How many Watts do I need?)
CPU - Don't know(Open to any suggestions within a price range of 200-400$
Thanks everyone!
