Hello everyone,
My question is mostly about a price-to-performance consideration. I have an i5-2400 on a h67 motherboard. I have a few upgrade options available to me and i don't know which one is most cost-efficient. I like to stream occasionally which is what necessitates this upgrade, OBS tells me that my cpu is overloaded when streaming watch dogs.
1. I can upgrade to i7-2600 for about $85
2.My motherboard supports ivybridge so I can upgrade to i7-3770 for about $110.
These are my cheapest options, but I can also upgrade to a 3770 or 4770 (mobo + ram) for about $250 and $350 respectively and keep my i5 as-is to upgrade another machine. I realize at that point I can just get an unlocked cpu combo further complicating matters.
The reason I'm looking at these older cpus is because of the current prices of ddr4 ram. My last option is to wait until ram prices decrease and go for ryzen. I'd appreciate any advice you guys can give. Thank you.
