should i buy an upgrade worth $150 for my rig which has a ddr4 ram, nvidia geforce 210 and pentium g440@3.3ghz? or should i buy a gaming laptop for almost $600?you might be wondering why im such an idiot to buy at taht value and upgrade for less. well there went by a situation where i spent $150 to upgrade my entire rig and guess what- not even a single fps increase

1) to know if your rig will increase in performance you will need to post what is on your current rig or what will be added.
2) NVIDIA GeForce 210 is definitely not worth it and do you have any idea of how much ram it is?
3) im unsure if the Pentium g4400 will be an upgrade or not

You are looking to upgrade but don't say what you are looking to upgrade.

You have upgraded this exact same amount before and don't say what was upgraded.

You don't say which laptop that is that has a marketing term slapped on it.

Since the motherboard,cpu and ram are (it seems since ddr4 ram) latest socket and probably what you upgraded to and not having upgraded that gpu is it very likely that you had no fps more. A better gpu will give better fps in your case as far as i can assume on what info given.
