Hello. I'm having issues with my sapphire 7900 xtx nitro +. I got my card and since I've had it I've had constant issues. When I try to play a game my screen goes black and says no dp signal found but I still have game audio that after afew seconds starts to clip but still I can hear. Also my pc fans kick up loud and I have to shut off my pc then turn it back on to even get any picture. Once my pc starts back up I have picture but my graphics card has been disconnected and the working display adapter is the microsoft display adapter. I have to connect my graphics card again to be able to change graphics settings then when I get back on a game it happens all over again. At first this would happen then not happen afew days. Sometimes it would be a week or 2 but now it's literally every time I get into a match on a game. I can't even use my pc for what I intended it for now which is gaming.

When I look at my current display hardware it says for my 7900 xtx "This device is not properly working properly because windows cannot load the drivers required before this device. (Code 31).

This goes away when I reconnect my card then the same issue happens again. There have been afew times my screen goes black and same thing happens then I restart my pc and the GPU is actually still connected and I don't have to reconnect to it. But mostly the GPU disconnects and I have to reconnect it

PC Specs
Mobo- Asus Rog Strix Z790-H Gaming WiFi
CPU: i7-14700KF
GPU: Sapphire Nitro+ 7900 XTX
RAM: 64GB G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB DDR5
PSU: EVGA GT 1000. 80+ Gold

Fixes I've tried:
  • Updated my bios to latest one
  • Disabled XMP
  • Updated graphics drivers to current
  • Used ddu to uninstall all drivers then reinstalled newest drivers multiple times
  • Unplugged my GPU all the way and GPU all the way including all cords
  • Removed the cmos battery for 5 minutes then retried that
  • Fresh install of windows
  • Used a dp cord and a hdmi

I don't know what else to do really and would really appreciate some help. Thank you

Based on the description of the issue I would recommend seeking warranty or RMA on that graphics card.

Do you have the 7900 connected by one daisy chained cable, or multiple cables?

Do you have another card that requires additional PCIe power cables to run that you can install and see if the issue follows to different hardware, or runs correctly?

Go to device manager, display adapters, right click on the 7900xtx and do "uninstall device" (and check "attempt to remove drivers" box if it shows up). Then restart the computer (you might have to reinstall the drivers).
I will try this if I get issues again. I did a fresh windows install last night and have yet to get home and setup my pc again. I'll let you know if this worked if I have the issue again. Is this different from using ddu?

It takes 3 8 pin headers. I have 2 8 pin to 8 pin headers and 1 daisy chain with 1 of in the gpu and the other hanging. I don't have another card to try anything with

I am not particularly familiar with your power supply, but the cert, 10yr warranty, and a self test on start seems to install some level of confidence. Those appear to have been released in 21, so should still be under warranty if you wanted to have it checked.

I think before going that far I would try to seek out a way to independently test the 7900 as well as to test the rig with a card of similar power draw. This might involve a local enthusiast or a mom and pop shop. I cannot recommend using Geek Squad, if such is local to you.

The Windows error you reported is usually caused by a corrupted driver.

Uninstalling/reinstalling the device can fix the problem. But if you did a Windows fresh install you obviously no longer have the corrupted driver issue. If you still get the same problem after the fresh install, then you likely have a hardware problem, probably with either the card or the PSU.

By the way, you should not use two connectors on the same cable for this card, you should use 3 different cables from 3 different PSU outputs. The 7900xtx can easily draw 350 W, some even reported 400 W spikes, and each 8-pin cable is rated to provide a maximum of 150 W. If you use two cables to connect the 3x8-pin headers you only get 300 W, which is not enough. Of course the 8-pin can deliver more than its rated 150 W, but it's highly recommended to stay within the cable specification.

@JayGau is your voltage requirement also including the 75W from the PCIe slot as well? In relation to slot, cable, cable, daisy

I totally understand where you are coming from, and not saying you are wrong at all.
With 2 cables and the PCIe slot it's 375 W. If there is a 400+ W spike it's not good. I'm no saying say it won't work, but I would personally use 3 outputs, if available.

Im using 3 cables. 2 8 pins to 8 pins and 1 daisy chain. But only one of the 6+2 on the daisy chain are plugged in. So i have 3 plugged into the gpu and 3 plugged into the psu

I made a new pc build and have had black screen issues ever since. I play at 1440 165 refresh on a s3220dgf dell monitor

MY PC SPECS
Gpu- sapphire nitro+ 7900 xtx
Cpu- i7-14700kf
Psu- EVGA GT 1000. 80+ Gold
Ram-64gb g.skill Trident z5 rgb DDR5
Mobo- Asus rog strix Z790-H gaming wifi

While playing escape from tarkov at random times but most the time almost instantly getting into a match my screen goes black saying no dp signal and my fans kick up to 100%. I will have audio still for a short time buf it clips. For me to get any display I have to hold my power button to force shut down and once I turn on my pc it's like nothing ever happened. Nothing shows up in event viewer except the pc shut down unexpectedly due to me holding the power button to shut it off. I used to be able to play and be ok for days or weeks but now it's every time I play tarkov it does this. Please help.

I have tried ddu to wipe graphics drivers and then reinstalled newest drivers.
Ive done windows fresh install 2 times now
Ive unhooked my psu and all it's cables along with my gpu
Ive reset the cmos
My bios is all up to date as well as all my drivers

I would really appreciate any help. This is driving me crazy
