Looking to upgrade to a better graphics card

Hi,

Recently I bought Call of Duty Advanced Warfare and was fairly certain that my build would be able to handle it but I find that even on lower settings it seems to struggle - lags, bad quality textures, freezing, all of that fun stuff. I am pretty certain it's my graphics card since thats the weakest component on my system. I was wondering what card would you guys suggest? Im looking to spend around the $200 - $300 range. I would also like to be able to play on max setting without any issues really. My setup is as follows -

Motherboard: AsRock 890 GX Extreme3
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1035T @ 2.61 Ghz
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 6770 1GB Gddr5
Ram: 16 GB DDR3 Kingston PC3-10700
Bootdrive: OCZ Vertex III 90 GB
Storage Drive: 500 GB Seagate Baracuda
PSU: I can't recall off the top of my head what the brand and model # is for the power supply but it is a 600 watt.

your gpu is really lacking in performance, I would recommend a gtx 750 ti or a gtx 760 for more of a budget card. the 760 is quite powerful and you could probably run cod aw on high with that. Your processor could use an upgrade but I think it could be fine.

As Nathan said, maybe also go for a new CPU. How fast is your HDD? sometimes, if you have a really slow HDD, it can cause some serious lag spikes. When i first build my PC, i ended up buying a laptop HDD (don't jugde pls) which would cause a lot of problems, especially in battlefield.

I would say go for a new CPU first. And go with a GTX 750 Ti afterwards or a GTX 760. Because that CPU will bottleneck the GTX 760 or 750 ti.

yes makes sure that your HHD is at least 7200 rpm and I would would personally go for the 760 over the 750 ti

Those 'old' 6 core CPUs are still good enough-although you might want to think about overclocking it to give the system a bit of a boost-but apart from that your most obvious issue is the HD6770.
Upgrade to either a GTX760 or R9 280 for a nice boost, neither is going to be held back by the current CPU/PCI-E slot revision, at least not enough to worry about.
It may be time to give the HDD a good clean out as well as a defragment.
If it's been a while since you cleaned out its cooler, check the CPU temperatures.
