Hey everyone,

So I am looking to upgrade my PC I built it about 6ish years ago and its finally starting to reach its limits. It was my first and only PC build I have done so I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what I could do to upgrade it or if I should just build new? Thanks everyone!

Current components:
GTX 680
8gb of Ram
i5 3570k (not overclocked)
Asus P8Z77-V Motherboard
650 watts gold seasonic psu
500gb SSD
1tb HDD

You have a certain budget?

Last three items could go to a new pc and the others could be sold.So saying a new pc would be nice with use of those and maybe even the old case if you still like it.

Adding a better gpu would already do good i think.like ~gtx 1060/1070 or if wanting the latest RTX 2070.The cpu can still be overclocked for better performance, maybe the ram as well for a little gain.

As mentioned by Vic, you have a lot of components that could make up a new rig, that's ultimatum your path.... I've got the same cpu @4.7ghz, and it's not that great anymore, still usable but noticeable struggles on certain tasks.

It would really depend on your budget and which games you want to play. But as it stands, a new graphics card would do wonders for your system.

I don't play much that is very graphic intensive mostly League of Legends and World of Warcraft but I did just purchase the new Call of Duty and that is where I really noticed my limitations. As for my budget that is kinda what I'm trying to sort out. If its going to cost close to the price of a full new build just to upgrade this old one I might just do that. Thanks for the advice folks!

Just figure out what you want to spend first then if you want/need any ask for some more advice or make a plan for your own within that budget.:)

You could check with MSI afterburner what is the biggest bottleneck or what is at 100% at the time of playing that COD game.Check ram too.

You're welcome.😀

I would say something like this:

Black and Red theme and also really good value for the money, you need a new memory and keep SSD / HDD / PSU

So it seems that my GPU being only 2gb is where I'm having the most issues at least in Call of Duty. So would I be able to just pop in a new GPU? Or would newer ones not be compatible with my current older setup?
