Hello,

Just completed a quick build for school using old parts.
I5-6600
ZOTAC 1060 6GB
16GB G-SKILL ram
All parts work fine on their own.

It was running a 2015 version of windows from the key I now use on my main rig (it remembers this motherboard on this as it was part of my first build)

Downloaded the updates for the newest windows and every time I restart I lose display "no signal" and it will never come back. I then power cycle to get back in and it shows and error downloading the update.

Reinstalled windows, same thing.
Took GPU out and am running direct DVI from motherboard, same occurrence with losing display.

Any help is appreciated

Any bios should work with that CPU on that board - https://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z170A-X1/#CPU its only Kaby Lake CPU that need a new BIOS, 6600 is Skylake and is covered.

when you reinstalled windows, did you use a new installer? No point updating from 2015 version as lots has changed in that time. Better to download a new one and only need a few updates after.

download the Windows 10 media creation tool and use it to make a win 10 installer on USB
