Hi everyone,

I hope one of you clever people can help me. I used the Microsoft method to fix the problem, worked a treat, but now I've lost everything! Photos, files, bookmarks etc.

I wish they had recommended backing them up first! Stupid me, I thought since they recommended it, it would be ok..

Can anyone tell me how to get them back, or am I stuffed?

Cheers
Liz

If you did not delete files from the C drive, probably the only thing that happene was that you created a new profile. Your files are still on the hard drive in the other profile directory. Look in C:\Users you will find it. Just copy the Favorites, Desktop and My Documents folders from the old profile to the new one.

Thanks i7baby, They didn't recommend it on the instructions, and I've never been able restore my pc, but apparantly that doesn't work, it didn't restore when I tried it twice. I've just gone on Microsoft live chat, I'll post the results 🙂

You are a star!!! So easy too, I have tried 2 types of recovery software and they didn't find them!
Thank you so much!!!!
Sorry to be thick, but how do I copy them to my user? 🙂

The reason that the recovery software did not find anything is because it was not deleted, just in a different place.
All you need to do is copy the folders I listed from the old profile to the new one, both will be listed in C:\Users
