Lost my folder, need help! [Win7]

This might sound really stupid, but I unconciously did something to my folder and now can't remember what, but it's missing! I think those are called brain farts...

So all I remember is that I clicked or moved or did something to the folder and then a window popped up to witch I automatically pressed enter, and then realized what I did...

So the folder is literally missing, it isn't in the trash bin, nor is it hidden. I also did a normal search on both C: and D: drives with no results

What the hell could've I done with a few clicks to make my folder completely dissapear??

when did you do this ... i think there was action log somewehre in the registries ...

Open Even Viewer ... in control panel ...and look for the date /time when you did the msitake ...there will be information ...

How would i use the Event Viewer? The folder was in D:/[Folder] if that means anything

No - quite the opposite, actually. It takes your system back in time to a point before whatever happened - erm, happened.

Does |This| mean that only the C: drive will be restored?
If so, then that won't help me since the folder was in the D: drive

You only need to restore it from your last backup; you perform regular backups, don't you?

Don't really have the need for backups, since there aren't that many important files on my pc

Then follow Saga Lout's suggestion if you haven't disabled that option.

The action you took that ended in the disappearance was system based in the C:\ drive. I would expect System Restore to undo that action.

Sounds like a job for System Restore.

System Restore only applies to critical OS files, not user files/folders. Won't do a thing in this case.

It should restore the Recycle Bin from Volume Shadow copies. In fact, Recuva might do that.

I got most of my files back, some of them corrupt, but still better than nothing.

Also, I remember the pop up window of the random action I did had a image of a folder with a red X in the corner, but it's not the normal delete, since deleting for me shows another icon, just in case it helps in thinking of a cause.

Found the cause! Because I almost did it again...

Nothing too interesting sadly, but it was deleted, but it wasn't in the trash bin because the file was too large, so I guess it just got instantly deleted.
