So i have been dealing with a pretty terrible computer since the new year with performance upgrades and decided to make some upgrades, since i only work a part time job (WOO HOO MCDONALDS) on top of high school, so i wanted a low priced upgrade. Already purchased new ram and CPU (cpu on the way). Being the teenage derp i am, i broke 3 DIMM slots on my Motherboard due to me installing my 16 gb Ripjaws RAM backwards after taking it out for its monthly cleaning. I killed the RAM along with the DIMM Slots. So now its time to get a performance computer.

Current build:
Case: i honestly dont know, no branding at all on the case. (not gonna gut it anyway)
Mobo: ASRock 970 extreme 3
CPU: AMD FX-4100
RAM: (had) GSkill ripjaws 4 GB (now) 8GB Sniper ram (1600 clock)
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 5770
PSU: some offbrand 450W Power Supply
Storage: 700GB Seagate
OS: Windows 7 64bit

Looking to have build:
Case: Corsair 230T (https://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-case-cc9011038ww)
Mobo: ASUS Z97-A (https://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-z97a)
CPU: I5-4690k Devils Canyon (https://pcpartpicker.com/part/intel-cpu-bx80646i54690k)
RAM: Recycled 8GB Sniper Ram + another 8GB later if needed
Graphics: Plan on recycling graphics card till able to save (dream GPU = R9 290 (https://pcpartpicker.com/part/his-video-card-h290qmc4gd))<--- programming class tendencies too strong;
PSU: Plan on recycling till EVGA 850W (https://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-220g20850xr)
Storage:Recycle till https://pcpartpicker.com/part/seagate-internal-hard-drive-st310005n1a1asrk + https://pcpartpicker.com/part/kingston-internal-hard-drive-sv300s37a120g
OS: Using the same cause who needs Windows 8

Any suggestions or changes would be greatly appreciated ... PLOX HELP!!!!!

Keep the mb . Buy an FX 8320 + a decent $30 cooler and OC to 8350 speeds
More processor power than that will not help with graphically intensive games .

RAM is fine at 2 x 4 gig

Get a GTX 970

and a 500 - 600 watt power supply

If there is money left buy an SSD

and the case which is really nice

It will game better than the intel build you are proposing because the graphics card is better

well see the problem with the mobo is that 3 of the DIMM slots are broken, so i would need to get a new one. I also want to delve into Intel some more, which is already ordered so its an Intel centered build with the CPU all i need is a new motherboard. im also looking for a quote on quote "futureproof" build something that will atleast last me another few years. This one lasted me quite a while.
