My specs:
Ryzen 7 2700x
Nvidia Strix 2080
32gb ram

Game settings:
Vsync: off
Resolution 1440p
DLSS enabled
Latest drivers installed.

My GPU utilization never goes over 80% and my cpu utilization Never goes above 40%. I know that my CPU is a bottleneck but I'm confused by these stats. I mostly play ark, when I'm away from base I do get about 70fps and my utilization stays low, but I get constant frame jitters. When I'm inside base my frames range from 15 to 25. Still with low utilization.

Any ideas? Playing around with the settings does nothing. The same game on my ps5 (which runs the equivalent of a 2080) inside base i get between 27 and 35 frames in the same area without any jitter.

When posting a thread of troubleshooting nature, it's customary to include your full system's specs. Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.

Latest drivers installed.
Did you use DDU to remove all GPU drivers(intel, AMD and Nvidia) in Safe Mode, to later install the latest driver sourced from Nvidia's support site, in an elevated command?

Is this with only one game or other titles exhibit the same problem? What sort of temps do you see for your CPU and GPU?

After benchmarking, it seems my GPU utilization is proper, not sure why it's doing this with ark.

cpu is still slowing your gpu.

also if your not hitting the max framerate of your monitor while gaming remove vysnc as all that will do is drop fps further.

mmos also have a few gaming quirks.

recomend moving it on to nvme if you havent already.

what is the speed of your ram and latency. CL 18 cl 16 etc

I'm not sure about latency, but my ram is currently running at 2133 MT/s. Don't slap me for that plz, I tried to get it to run faster, especially since my ram is capable of 3000mhz. But my current CPU cannot handle any faster than 2667mhz. I tried, after many bsod's I settled.

Also, apparently the GPU utilization problem is an issue with Ark. Found that out today. My buddy has a 4080 and his gpu utilization is only like 40%

Do you guys think it would really be worth dropping $300+ on a new CPU? Something like a ryzen 9 5950x?

If you are gaming only then I would go for a 5700x3d as an in socket upgrade. The issue though is that your RAM speed could cripple it so its a tough one as you don't want to be doing both your cpu and ram as you might as well upgrade to AM5 at that stage

i run a 5900x however i had to under volt it to 1.3 to get it stable on air.
i still recomend it if you need extra cores for streaming.
what i find odd is hogwarts legacy really likes the 5900x extra cores.

5700x3d is better for overall gaming due to faster cache.

also try updating your bios as some corsair memory needs a bios update to get the memory working properly.

the max memory speed i believe is like 2933 on those chips with lower latency you can hit 3600 like cl 18
