[SOLVED] Low CPU / GPU Utilisation CS:GO 6800XT

Hey guys,

First of all, I know CSGO is a cpu running game, hence I wonder about this,

In general, my cpu utilisation locked at 20-28% while my GPU utilisation fluctuates between 60-80% occasionally hit above 90%. Both hotspot and GPU temp never hit above 58’C, while CPU temp range between 47-55'C

My System

B550f Gaming Wifi2 Rog Strix
Tuf 6800xt
Ryzen 5600x
EVGA G5 850w
Corsair LPX 16gb 4000cl16 @ 3800mhz CL16

Monitor Gigabyte G27Q 144hz QHD

So today is the first time I play CSGO, casual gamer, new to gaming rig, GPU is not overclocked, CPU boosted 100mhz.

After a couple hours playing CSGO, I was curious how my system runs, not that it encountered issue, but I just checked. Setting runs high - very high by default, I didn't change a thing.

Game runs super smooth… at 380-399fps in average, very occasionally will go to 280-320fps in busy environment. It feels like there's a limiter that's hit, like it won't go beyond 400fps, not that it is an issue as my monitor only 144hz too, just curious. What could that be?

I remember a mate uses 3060ti, same CPU 5600x, 16gb 3200mhz memory, once told me he got if not 350 400fps playing cs go. My curiosity peaked, I checked online, most online references mention that my system 6800xt with 5600x should be getting 500+ fps playing CSGO.

Is this normal? Should I just ignore the low utilisation? Well, I don’t have problem once again but very curious, why some people be getting 500-580fps?

CPU bottleneck? I don't think so, I compared my outcome to other 5600x results, and most importantly, I got very good RAM here, my CPU benchmark no matter where I tested it, produced above normal results at its frequency and boost.

So, I feel confused as in why I am not getting the FPS like what people mentioned online, could be in game configuration? graphic setting related, no?

The other games I played so far:

Flight Simulator, 1440p ULTRA setting, all ultra I got fps above expectation, averaging 67-80fps, even sometimes 80+ fps. Compared to what people said online, from howmanyfps.com, from YouTube benchmarkers, I'm happy

PUBG, 1440p ultra setting, this too, got at least the same to what people said online, from benchmarkers and other gamers, I am happy, I think I even got like 5-7% more than typical online results.

Both games above utilised my GPU pretty much all in.

Timespy Extreme, Timespy, all runs above expectation, super happy.

Also, my CPU runs normal too, as mentioned previously, single core benchmark 1550-1570 and multicore 11,800-12,000 points at Cinebench r23

Benchmark results are as follow:

As per benchmark results, performance on other games, I am simply curious!

No matter using e sport, standard, standard with anti-lag, all the same...

Thanks for stopping by!!

I hope I could get some sort of explanation here… not that I want more overthrown FPS, but I wanna learn.

Okay I just think your reading into this to much. Yes a high framerate improve the delay in input lag but 350fps is excessive.

If you have a 60hz monitor 290 of your frames are being thrown.

On the matter of PUGB I have a GTX 1080 and get 80-110 on medium high 99% utilization on 1440p. So I would say your getting the best you can.

I'm seeing nothing wrong with your system.

Edit: Typos.

Thanks for the reply mate,

Yeah I know almost certainly sure nothing is wrong with my system. I was even trying to apply FPS limiter since I know exactly it’s gonna make my gpu even run near idle and make the fan not spinning at all 😂 I mean, all I need is 144fps maybe 240fps max max since I got VRR Freesync ON.

That’s what triggered me to check what’s the FPS, and somehow figured, wait,” I thought it supposed to be higher”

So, since I am a complete noob that is super keen to learn, want to learn anything I can learn I kinda wanna know what makes it different that what most people claim a 6800xt can do to CSGO . Even though as soon as I figure what’s causing this? I’ll apply FPS limit for this game as I love dead silent system

as in PUBG, played it on 6700xt for a few days, getting like 160-180 fps 1440 high, then on my 6800xt I believe I got 200fps+ and this game did utilised my gpu, fan spinning hard, gpu clock went high. On Ultra setting, when all ultra, I believe it was somewhere around 140-160fps, but I forgot exact number as I only played it for 2 days on my 6800xt, realised GPU runs well, uninstalled the game 😂 Didn’t like it, here in Aus too many bot! Not as popular

I just cap to 143fps so the Vysnc doesn't kick in and but still have Gsync going.

Also it depends on your CPU as a core can only ready so many frames at a time and eventually it will bottleneck. There is always something slowing something down. The lower the resolution makes this problem bigger.

but in that case I looked at my own cpu benchmark it actually good and drama free, 😂 That’s why I’m just very curious. I wish someone with AMD GPU had experienced the same thing and could help telling me what to change in the setting or game menu . I’m dead curious but not curious enough to tweak each setting for hours since like you said, it’s basically over thrown FPS already hahaha

about the bottleneck I am aware 5600x is bottlenecking 6800xt at lower resolution but by around 3-5%, and at QHD and UHD it’s barely bottlenecking 6800xt though a better gpu will still offers higher FPS.

Cheers!
