LOW FPS (400 Dollar PC) from ebay custom built

I just bought this PC off of Ebay, and it is painfully slow. Am I missing an update or video card driver or is there anything I can do to increase FPS? Even typing this message is giving me slow performance. Is this normal for such low cost PC? Please let me know, I don't know much about computers.

Does it have a dedicated GPU that you didn't list? Because if you paid $400 for the specs you listed you got hosed.

Any used build I'd buy the first thing I'd do would be a clean install as you have no idea if the version of Windows on your system is pirated or not (most people don't buy Win10 Pro) and there could be some nasty stuff on there bogging the system down.

And yes $400 is way too much for that system. Depending on use you could of built something much better.

Your welcome! Also with the build I posted uses brand new parts which are easily upgrade able. With the system you bought off of ebay you wouldn't be able to upgrade the CPU with anything newer as it's a outdated socket.

Should come out at 400 or just over. But basically, the first link is a Dell optiplex tower with an i7 2600. 8gb of ram, 1tb storage. Keep in mind I didn't look very hard so you might score a better deal.

Second link is a gtx 1060 6gb mini.

3rd link is an EVGA 500 watt PSU. I think that would be enough to run it, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I know that building is the popular option, but honestly, if he can get an old i7 and a good mid range card, that will slaughter integrated graphics. I bought a used Dell optiplex from work like that for my wife's home office. Still need to put things together but am upgrading it to 16gb of ram, and planning to put a 500gb SSD in. Those are still fast systems. Saw something on YouTube I think where a guy even fit a 1070 in one. But a system like that would get you started while you save up for something better over the next couple of years. With this solution you'd have to put a couple of parts in yourself, but there are all kinds of guides on how to do it.

For gaming your looking at 720P @Low settings to maintain around 60 FPS on games but for really any gaming computer you need a good dedicated video card for higher settings on 1080P. The AMD RX 570 would pair very well with this system and can be found for $140.

As for building it there's plenty of guides online as well as help here. It can be a bit of a learning curve however for the most part it's a enjoyable process.
