Low fps, good rig

Hello all,

I get high fps, like 50+ on ultra settings in BF3 and Skyrim etc., but I just started playing GW2 and I am getting ridiculously low framerates, even on low and medium settings! I just dont understand it. Someone please help me! My roommate has the same GPU as me and he is running amazing fps, like 60. I have all the latest drivers. But my roommate does have his quad core overclocked to 4.3 GHz or something ridiculous.

Anyway, please help me figure out what is wrong because I have no idea.

GPU: 2GB AMD Radeon 6970

CPU: 3.0 GHz AMD Phenom xII 945

RAM: 12GB DDR3

MOTHERBOARD: AMD ASUSTEK M4A78T-E

Try checking CPU usage during the lag. MMOs tend to be CPU dependent.

My CPU usage is about 40-60% fluctuating. I also discovered it is running at 65 degrees celcius. Could the temperature be messing everything up?

65°C is OK. I wouldn't worry unless it gets to 80°C. What's taking up that much of CPU?

Sometimes a slow HDD can cause lag.Especially in MMORPG's.

What is HDD? Hard Drive Device? I don't really know but I don't think its that, I have like a terabyte large HDD and I have never had fps problems before.

HDD is Hard Disk Drive. It shouldn't slow it down unless you have a really bad one.

So what's taking that much of the CPU?

The CPU temp ia a problem AMD state the maximum temp is 62C see http://products.amd.com/en-us/DesktopCPUDetail.aspx?id=534 its only intel chips that can run in the 80s
