System Specifications:

  • Ryzen 7 5800X
  • G.Skill RipjawsV 32GB (2x16GB) 3600MHz
  • MSI B550M PRO-VDH WIFI
  • Kingston KC3000 2TB
  • XFX RX 6800 Speedster Merc 319
  • Cougar Aqua 360 RGB
  • VENTO VG22AL
  • FSP HD2-850W GEN5 PSU
Issue:I’m experiencing low FPS in games. For example, in Counter-Strike 2, my average FPS ranges between 170-250, and in Valorant, it’s between 200-250, but sometimes drops as low as 110 FPS.

Here’s what I’ve checked so far:

  1. My BIOS is up to date.
  2. Chipset drivers are up to date.
  3. RAM is running at 3600MHz.
What could be causing this issue, and what steps can I take to optimize performance? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

FSP HD2-850W GEN5
while FSP does offer some very high quality units,
they also produce some very low quality.
this model appears to be one of their lower-tiered models.
it may just have issue providing the required power for this system to run as it should.

though 200+ fps is quite high with higher in-game settings and resolutions.
try lowering ALL options in-game and see if the fps spikes noticeably.

Even if I increase or decrease the in-game settings, my FPS values remain nearly the same. This makes me wonder if the issue is related to something other than the game settings.

Without any kind of system monitoring software you are running completely blind whilst trying to troubleshoot. For example:

What is your GPU utilization during gameplay. (GPU limited, see temps/power settings if clock speed low)

What is your PER CORE CPU utilization during gameplay. (CPU limited, see temps/power settings if clock speed low. Also general internet search to see if known issue with platform or game)

What are the GPU/CPU temperatures during gameplay. (Further on above issues)

Personally, and on my system I keep MSI Afterburner running, as well as either Task Manager (Performance tab -> Logical Processors) or AMD Ryzen Master to monitor these things if and when I suspect an issue, or when tuning settings to my preference in each game. Tools like HWiNFO are also invaluable. FWIW I'm not trying to belittle or be condescending. The information these tools provide can be VERY helpful for when you come up blank, and need to hit the forums (Here, or game forums).
