low fps on pc games after power outage

i am getting a big problem in my pc after there was a power outage due an blackout last Sunday all the games on my pc have became slower and lower in things i think could have happened that something happened to the power supply due the power outage or the gpu died because it was already dying and working well
My Specs:
CPU:Intel Pentium Dual Core E5700 3.00GHZ
RAM:2GB of RAM Kingston 1x2
GPU:Nvidia Geforce 9500 gt 1 GB of VRAM
PSU: 500Watt

I take it you didn't have it plugged into a power surge protector?

no i didnt i dont have one and still dont know what is the cause of this problem please help
note that i only notice slow down in games the rest of the pc is working well with no slow down at all

I don't play very heavy games I only play games such as team fortress 2 and dota 2 and blacklight retribution and some other singleplayer games such as mortal kombat and assassins creed 3 and other(please don't say your specs aren't enough to run games because I used to play them well with high fps and were totally playable without any problems so if you are gonna say you don't have enough specs please keep ypur words for you)

ah I forgot to say in some games I use high settings and in other I use max settings and in other I use med-high settings

now something really strange happened all the games now work as they were working without any problems but the pc in major became very slow and laggish so what is wrong with my pc

I think (but don't know) that if it damaged anything hardware it would cause much worse problems, so I suspect it just corrupted a file or something. You could try running some benchmarks to try to see if its running as it should or try reinstalling every thing and see if it fixes it.

i already tried to reinstall windows but what happens that the pc becomes fine and fast without laggish but games run slow after a few days the opposite happens games become stable while windows is lagy any suggestion ?

Not really I have never come across this. If a reinstall doesn't fix it then its not software and if the problem veries its hard to diagnose, does the PC crash ever or is it purely performance? You could run stress tests on the CPU and GPU and see how they handle it and run memtest to check the RAM and keep an eye on your temps while you stress test. If this shows no problems it leaves the hard drive, motherboard and power supply unless something crazy has happened to the mouse or keyboard but I think thats to strange.

To answer your question its simple your pc got a huge surge what do you think happens to electronics when they get hit with like 1000 volts they fry. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it isn't damaged your pc is toast it will always have these problems forever. You need a new pc or if you're really extremely lucky it only damaged your PSU! Try replacing that first if not there is more damage than expected. I am very sorry but not just in personal but a very highly professional military expereince and years of module and component level troubleshooting I have seen a lot of this.

I'm telling you right now that it's gone. It could be a fried component, like a resister, capacitor, inductor, tranformer or something. It takes a boat load of experience that even I have barely gained to desolder and resolder a new component. On top of that its not guaranteed to work since its totally possible more than one component could be bad internally and not even show a burn externally or some type of damage. Honestly just get a new pc sorry kid next time its best to invest in a good power surge protector and spend a min of $60 the kind that actually tell you if you're grounded or not. Also they can take multiple surges the cheap ones don't show if you're grounded and often are only good to take one hit!

Then they're only good as an extension cord but will no longer protect your stuff! Again I am very sorry to be the bearer of bad news but its the truth new pc and a reliable surge protector will save you a great deal of headaches and money. ALL my expensive electronics are plugged to such a surge protector they have servede well for over 2 years and taken a hit from numerous power surges. Electronixs do weird things when hit by an OD of volts this sounds common to me funky workings after a hit is a good sign of damage. Might not be the answer you want but its reality bro sorry.

i have run a cpu and gpu stress test and they were fine on a stable temp. and ran memtest and it was all fine and for knowledge i only face this slowdown in my pc when i try to enter a folder or a partition i think it is harddrive related as al other thing work fine

Holy cow if you are extremely lucky maybe only your storage device was affected by this outtage. I really hope this is the case my friend and some advice would be get a good surge protector don't risk this any further. Power surges are evil LOL!

It does sound like its a hard drive problem unless its the sata port on the motherboard, I suggest you try another port before anything else. Do you have another hard drive to try?

nope i dont have any other hdd but i tested my hdd at another pc and it worked fine could it be psu related?
ps:iam now getting a new problem my pc works well for about 1 hour then the image on the monitor disappears and everythings freeze and the only way to make the pc work again is to restart it several times
it doesnt accure after 1 hour exactly but it accures randomly as it can happen after 5 min of start up or after 10 hour so its a random situation any help???

I don't think you will get to the bottom of it until you start replacing hardware and I suggest you start with the PSU 1st.

This is exactly what I have been trying to get at good point. It's a power outage that means a spike of volttage hit your PSU. If the system gets power but its fluctuating or its not enough things can get really funky. I would do what he just said and try starting to slowly replace hardware beginning with your PSU! A word of causing of course when dealing with anything thats been hit by a power surge during an outage. Wear something to protect from getting shocked your average PSU in a PC is like 500-750W if this thing shocks you it will definitely stop your heart Watts really hit hard so make sure you take all precautions and safety measures humanely possible before you touch any screw with a screwdriver on that PSU!!!
