My specs
Gtx 1080
i7 8700
16gb ram
Ssd 237gb
Monitor:1080p and 144hz

Hey i played fortnite today i noticed that my fps was very low i had 80-180 fps in diffrent areas and i did have more than that earlier. I did a benchmark on gta 5 a couple days ago with maxed out setting except mssa was at 4xx and i got 60-115 and i dont think this is normal. My temps are also normal so i dont know whats causing it. Please any help would be appreciated. And im thinking about buying a new monitor that is 180hz and 1080p and has g-sync but should i get 1440p monitor for my gtx 180 or is 1080p good

Doesn't sound like anything is wrong. Frame rates are variable by nature. The amount you are currently rendering and the complexity of that rendering will determine your current frame rate. Big worlds with lots of object and effects will lower your frame rates; smaller spaces with fewer object will render at higher frame rate. 80 - 180 at max settings on 1080 is decent performance.

In terms of going with a 1440 monitor, you will be increasing the demand on your GPU. Avg FPS is closer to 110 @ 1440 as opposed to 130 @ 1080. Personally, I think 1080 is fine for 24"-27" screens, 1440 for 27"-32", and 4K for 32"+.

There's likely nothing "wrong" with your system. Your frame-rates are pretty high all around and even maxed setting on GTA V yielded no less than 60. Both games are prone to fps inconsistencies at certain times. Run CPU-z/GPU-z and be sure your settings are displaying as they should.
