did this just start happening? a hardware switch maybe? going from running fine to having that type of a problem out of nowhere is odd

can you think of any major changes/events in your pc's "life?" heh

not really i changed from a geforce2 to a geforce 440 and people are getting higher scores i got dx9.0. but recently my games been shutting down like going back to windows and when i click on the the taskbar the game come's back but sometimes im in the middle of a race and the game flickers like you can desktop icons then the game back in forth then my car is like still moving by it self and i cant ctrl alt del out of it i have to press the reset

No offense, but you do have a crappy computer. The Celeron is made for business and extremely budget-oriented home PCs. You don't have a lot of ram. You don't have a good video card. In fact, your video card is one of the worst ever made. It's dwarfed by anything else that's made. It is, once again, strictly for business and low-budget home computing, not gaming.

Sorry, you won't get much in the way of any performance unless you part with some coin. You can try tweaking, but that will take a fair amount of time and work. It's not the hardware's fault, you're just asking a Geo Metro to be a drag racer. You get what you pay for.
