Low gpu usage in crossfire in everything!

Hello, i've just upgraded from a single card set up to a crossfire setup. Before the crossfire upgrade i had high gpu usage in most games and unigine valley (in the 90% range) but now i rarely see above 50% even in valley. In bf4 which has great crossfire support i constantly stay in the 30's with everything maxed out at 1080p.

My set up:

amd fx 8320 at 4.4ghz
asus sabertooth 90fx r2.0
2x asus r9 280x direct cu2 top

My cpu never reaches 100% rarely hitting 70% so no cpu bottle neck and ULPS is disabled.
Using latest 15.7 beta drivers on windows 8.1.

Any help will be appreciated, really annoyed that this isnt working properly.

GPU usage will never reach max if you're not doing something demanding. Playing in 1080 is one of those things that won't even cap a 2 GB card.

If you disable 1 GPU, and run valley again, do you still get the same results? Could be a problem with the cf profile.

disabling crossfire maxes out my gpu at 100%, enabling it causes low gpu usage even at 2560 x 1440p

good gosh, my crossfire 280 can even get battlefield hardline 80-100 fps in 1080 ultra everything. You must be running on 1 card. Crossfire only work in full screen. windowed or borderless will only work with single card

When I enable crossfire my usage is barely 50% on both cards so my fps is either the same as one card or lower. With crossfire disabled I get better fps because my gpu usage is 100%
