Lucasarts Mercenaries save game prob?

I just started playing the game Mercenaries from LA, and the save
game mechanism seems wonky to me.

I have been tooling around the country side just trying to pick
up as many of the bounties as I can (WMD docs, blowing up statues, etc)
and have been saving my progress as I go. However, I noticed that if I
were to reload my save game, I start no where near the place I had
saved
the game. It seems I pop back up in a MASH unit.

Is this right? I don't die and try to reload, sometimes I wanted
to just reload and try something new, but I still end up in this camp
that just isn't where I saved my game.

So again, I ask, is that the intention of the save game mechanism
or is something wonky?

Thanks,

I think it starts at the nearest "designated save area". Usually one of the
bases. I've started at the MASH unit but I've also started in other areas.
Yes it would be nice if it were more like a PC game where you could save
right before doing something crazy or extra dangerous and reload at the
exact same spot if things don't go well.

Cryo is right. It does save at the nearest save area. Unless you are
in city under faction control, it saves at the MASH unit. Still keeps
all your progress/cash, but your location is changed.

A little odd, but a minor inconvenience.
