Question M.2 Drive disappeared after Windows Update

I added a Samsung 990 Pro 2TB M.2 SSD to my PC one month ago. I am using it as a secondary drive, not the system disk. It had been working fine until the Windows update last night. After the update and restart, it disappeared. I did a bunch of restarts and nothing happened.

Finally, I took out the drive and moved it to a different slot. It had been in the CPU slot, but I moved it to a different slot. The MoBo is a Gigabyte Z690 UD AX.

After I moved it, it started working fine again.

Does anyone know why this happened? Do I need to update my Bios?

Thank you.

How do I update my chipset drivers? Doesn't this automatically happen as part of Windows Update?

I followed the instructions above, but I didn't see Intel Chipset Driver listed under System Devices. There were a number of items with Intel in the title. The device manager thought that all of these had up-to-date drivers.

I ended up using the Gigabyte Control Center to update the drivers. Everything seemed to work fine, with one exception. It kept appearing to install, but then it would reappear on the GCC dashboard as if it needed to be updated. I eventually went to the Gigabyte website and downloaded it and installed it from there, but it still appears on GCC.

After that, I switched the M.2 back to the CPU slot, and it worked fine.

Then, just to kick the hornet's nest a bit more, I updated the BIOS. I'm going to post a different thread under the MoBo section about that experience.

Here's my new question: I want to get a second M.2 drive to use as my system disk. However, what happens if there is another Windows update and the System Disk disappears?
