Looking at Samsung S951 ssd which has m.2 m key, but all the adapters to mSata I have seen are meant for m.2 b key. I understand the connection will not be at full speed, thinking about ssd which I am happy with also in future. Is there an adapter which converts m.2 m key to mini PCI-E, and, if, what is the expected speed from the connection?

I do not recommend the Samsung 951. The NMVE and the ACHI versions are both OEM drives. They were never meant for retail sales. They are meant to be used in off the shelf computer systems. Samsung has lucrative contracts to supply the OEM drives to companies like Dell, HP, Lenovo, and others. The drives may or may not have features that are inlcuded in retail versions. There are diffierent model and product numbers for each pc company. Each one may have slightly different features. In addition, there is no Samsung full factory warranty for the ssd. If something goes wrong you would have to contact the vendor instead of Samsung.

There s still a problem. What are you trying to accomplish? How do you intend to use the ssd? What kind of PC do you have? Typically mainstream consumers and casual gamers use an ssd as a boot drive with the operating system installed on it.

I maintain an ssd database listed in a sticky at the very top of this forum section. Here is the link:

You can find the 950 and the 951 near the top of the database. Follow the links to the technical reviews. The links are divided into two categories - English language reviews and reviews in other languages.

Thnx for the explicit answer and info about 951, however warranty does not seem the issue since I get it from the retailer and contact them in case something happens. Looking at ACHI version. The problem with any other SSD around that speed is that they are NMVE, but I got the motherboard only for SATA III, mSata and mini PCIE connections. (laptop, MSI whitebook ms-16ga) Since they are NMVE I doubt they will work as a bootable drive. Understand the speed would be lower through any connections I have, but would be nice to buy ssd which can be used also if I buy a new pc. (This is more of a challenge now to make it work.)
