Hi there,
Any help would be really appreciated. I have recently bought a Samsung 500GB 850 EVO M.2 SSD which I have installed into my motherboard. The BIOS and Windows 10 do not pick it up. I have tried changing the SATA Express Mode Configuration to M.2 mode and still nothing. In Disk Managment it is not detected either.
Computer Specs:
Samsung 500GB 850 EVO M.2 SSD, MAXIMUS VII RANGER,
16 GB Vengeance DDR3 RAM, i7-4790k 4.00Ghz, MSI GTX 1070

1 x M.2 Socket 3, with M Key, type 2260/2280 storage devices support (PCIE mode)

while the SATA-based M.2

m.2 is a just a slot type, you need one for the right interface/mode

It seems someone can use 850 evo m2 on that board, so I assume incompatibility is not the reason :)

If you go here you'll find M.2 has several variations (known as "key"):

If you go here you'll see the key type on your motherboard is "key m":

If you go here I see one model of the SSD has both key M and key B notches:

I don't know if the dual notches for the two keys mean it can be put in upside down or not, but if your motherboard is key M and either the the particular SSD supports only key B or if the SSD is oriented wrong I could see the possibility that the drive won't show up. The M.2 spec basically makes it so incompatible keys won't do electrical harm if put in wrong, but it also implies they won't work. Check if your particular SSD has key M. Check that it is oriented correctly.
