M.2 running in PCIE Gen 2x2

I have an msi godlike gaming carbon on the latest bios yet my 970 pro is running on pcie gen 2x2 with a max read and write of about 800MB/S on each. I have had no problems before but cant seem to fix this issue right now. The system is running only one other thing on the PCIE slots which is my gtx 1080. I have everything set to auto in the pcie settings with a latency of 32 bus clocks. Have tried both pch sata and pch pcie or whatever its called. The bios is also locked to ONLY uefi. Anybody have and idea what i could be missing?

Try moving your GTX 1080.
What CPU are you using? That motherboard can get complicated when setting up. Occupying certain slots will drop your M.2 speeds down to 2.0 mode.

The GPU is in the top PCIE slot.
The CPU is the 6850k
this wasnt a problem when i first installed the operating system. Im confident its got to be a messed up setting or maybe the bios...

Trying writing down (or taking pics) of all your BIOS settings and performing a BIOS reset. Then, without changing anything beyond what's necessary to boot into the OS (like legacy/UEFI settings) test it again.

Ended up being me selecting stupid settings... who woulda thunk lol
