Question M.2 Sata SSD issue

Hello,

My computer has been running on with an m.2 sata ssd as the boot drive for a few years. My PC began to crash (Critical Process Died) and would reboot but couldnt get into Windows. I received the error message after bios "Select proper boot device". My ssd was not taken out or moved recently. I have a second ssd on my board so I swapped their positions and when I got into my bios the boot drive wouldnt appear. I swapped them back and the same thing happened, so I know its not an issue with the board. I have an m.2 enclosure and my PC can pick it up but when I try to access files I get "request failed due to fatal device hardware error".

Any ideas what the issue is/how I can fix it? If its not fixable, is their any way to be able to recover the data on the drive?

Might be fixable. Quite possibly not.

Links below might point you in the right direction.....bad cable, bad driver, file system issues, or beyond hope due to a failed drive.

If it is in fact "dead", I don't think you have much chance of recovery...less so than on a spinning hard drive.
